Military Testing in
Our Schools From a public school advocate in California: There are a few aspects of ASVAB testing that aren't covered in your online piece that might be relevant to community/school activists, like the questionable legality of asking minors to sign away their privacy rights (which could be grounds for a test case) and the promise by the military to honor requests by individual students to not have their scores released to recruiters (a deception used to neutralize concern). From a high school teacher in Ohio: Great article on the ASVAB testing program. I will bookmark this web site for my students. My school gives the ASVAB test. I'm glad you mentioned "option 8" (“No Recruiter Contact”), that we can give the test but bar recruiters from contacting students who took it. Military officials never informed our school that we had this choice. If I ever give the test again it will only be using option 8! What
does it mean for a veteran to get a “good” or “bad” discharge From a Gulf War veteran: The analysis about discharge types offered here is good. However, a veteran with a dishonorable discharge loses more than just education benefits. There are home loan guaranty benefits, compensation and pension benefits for disabilities, vocational rehabilitation benefits for disabilities, and life insurance benefits. |
